Motion

So This was a shot that I had done at a little vikes cheer camp we did a couple weeks ago. I chose these photos because they still show motion but still have a focal point on them. I like some of them because they show motion but they also are just a shot in time and not blur like some of the others. These aren’t really some of the best photos but they show my weak points that I still need to work on. I have really enjoyed photography but more so posed then action shots and I know that I need to work on that.

These next ones are them showing how to do the next jump. I know they aren’t motion abut they are some good photos.

New Year, New Me!!!

So I have to say that it was a good long summer and I am ready to get back into my blog. I hate and regret that I didn’t post anything over the summer but I will have so much this year I can’t wait. I wanted to have some fun with this first one. I went out with some of my close friends that have been wanting me to take photos of them for a while. We were having fun laughing but I didn’t just want the shots of them smiling I waited just for the right moment when one made a different face or just started laughing. I really wanted to work with the lighting at right before the sunset started. I really should have had a reflector in some shots but they still turned out very good. I know last year I did a lot of portraits but most of it was in the studio I really wanted to work with natural lighting this time. The composition of most of these photos was very nice and I liked the fact that I could change some to black and white and I really didn’t have to do much editing.

Final!!!! Theme: Frames=]

So this is my last post this year wow it doesn’t seem that it is the end of the year already. This year has been a great year and I feel that I have grown as photographer in many ways. I have learned how to use lighting and how to really work with what you have and you can always get a photo any where you go. I have learned that studio work is very fun but difficult at the same time. I have really worked with my lighting and learning how to use it to my advantage. I have also learned that photography is a strong passion of mine and I want to keep going in it. I have grown so much and I really don’t want this year to end. I still have two years left of high school though and it has gone by so fast the past two years and I am sure that the next two will go by even faster.

So here are my photos for my final.

Business Portrait:

This portrait was the one photo that didn’t have to go with the theme. I wanted really just a straight forward portrait. The lighting was the one thing that was supposed to be our strong point. So I put the soft box right almost next to his face and had my background light towards the back of him, then the backlight was just used as my color for my background, and final I used the reflector on the opposite side of his face. I felt very comfortable with the photo but I wish I would have used the hair light but it still turned out great for a portrait.

Rule of Thirds:

So my RoT was a photo that was a fairly easy one because I had in mind what I wanted to do for it. This photo was taking in my backyard and I felt that the colors really pop and I liked the darker but vibrant colors in it. I really don’t have much to say for this one it is really a basic picture for the most part.

Simplicity:

This photo was a very fun look because I really liked how it was a straight forward photo but it didn’t have much in the photo. I chose this for simplicity because I felt that it was different but simple. I was very happy with how it turned out how the black help the color of the flower pop.

Balance:

So this photo was one of the harder photos for me to figure out what to do for. I remembered what Twich had showed us in class and I decided to use my windows on my house. I wasn’t the happiest with the way that they turned out but it was the best one. I really hope that this is what you were looking for.

Creative View Point:

This was another hard one but I was thinking about it and I wanted to use some of my old post ideas and I remembered about feet and I liked that as my creative view point. I was happy with my coloring and just the over all look of the photo.

Large depth of field:

This was an interesting shot and I felt it showed the a great example of large depth of field. I felt the lighting was very good and a very well balanced photo.

Limited depth of field:

This was a fun photo to take. I really liked how different this photo was and just how funky it was. I really got my inspiration form this one from my post about hands.

Leading Lines:

This is most likely my favorite photo of my final. I really like this photo because it is very well balanced and just a strong over all photo=].

Natural Framing:

I didn’t know at first what to do for this. I went to my tree in my yard and I really wanted to just get the shot from a different angle. I was happy but wish that the tree was just a little bit more detailed.

Your Choice:

These were the ones that I was the most happy with. I wanted to do a portrait with my sister and she did a great job for me but trust me it was like pulling teeth to get her to do it. When she got out there she got into it. I was happy with the lighting and the balance of the photo. I didn’t do much editing to any of my photos because they really didn’t need it. All I did was levels and a little bit of cropping but that is really it. My second one was another photo of hands and the reason why I chose it was because I likes the look and the feel from the photo. I was so happy with all of my photos and fell that they really do show improvement from this last year. I was so happy with them and I will for sure see you all next year.

Dress

So I have been wanting do this project for a while and my friend was actually making a dress so I was waiting to do it. I wanted to do it outside but the weather just didn’t really work for me but I just went to my plan b and did it in the studio. I at first had the ring light, soft box and the back light. Then I added in a separation light. I really liked the coloring that I got with it. I wanted more if a funky look because her dress was very unique. I wanted to use the black background in them but we didn’t have it in the studio so I just went with the on that was up. At first I wasn’t sure that it was gonna work but it ended up looking really cool. I love the photos because I really caught her quirkiness and just her being her. Ever since I have known Katie she has just been funny and very unique. I was happy to capture her true personality. I felt that the lighting was perfect on them and they are just very good overall photos. I am using this post for last week and this week because last week I took them and this week I edited them and start on my final project.

I love these photos and I have to say this was one of my favorite photo shoots that I have done this year I got my inspiration fromhttp://www.perfectboutiques.com/granduation-dresses-c-29.html

Tubbs Hill!!!!=]

So I was asked by one of my friends to do portraits of her for her mom. She wanted to got out on Tubbs Hill to take them. We did her photos on saturday because of how beautiful it was that day. I was happy with the photos that I got and she was also happy with them. I chose these photos because I felt that these were the best ones. I was happy with the color balance on them. I wish we would have had more time to take more photos but she had to be home so we couldn’t but I will be taking her out again most likely this weekend  and taking them again.

I don’t really love this photo and the other like it but I decided to put them in the post because they weren’t the best

Class shoots and Sunset!!!!

So we went out Wednesday  and Thursday, as a class, and last night I went out shooting at sunset. So I wanted to show all of these photos but that would just be to many but I will show you some of the best ones. I chose these photos because they had the best coloring in them and the strongest that I shot. I am happy to have sun because shooting the winter days was getting to boring and I never wanted to show them because they weren’t pretty but the sun showed and I love to be able to capture the true essence of nature.

Plane!!!!

I forgot about these photos I had gotten a little side tracked but when going through them I remembered that I haven’t shown them yet. I loved the photos because the over all color exposure and lighting of the photos. I did do some editing to them but I felt that it was necessary to show you want the before and after was on the photos. I feel that the first one I could see being used as an add or something for SouthWest. What I was going for in this post was artistic but more advertising in a way I feel that I captured exactly what I wanted to in this post.

I Love how this photo because it was a great shot of depth of field!!!

SUN=]

This week I wanted to work on some more natural lighting. I decided to go downtown and do some portraits of my friend and her baby cousin. She also asked me if some time I would do some photos of her for her family and I felt that this was a perfect time to do it. I wanted to capture their smiles and I have to say working with kids is hard when they are in a bad mood. We did what we could to get her to smile but some of them she just wouldn’t. I wanted to do some more with the outside lighting because I have worked a lot this winter with studio and I needed a challenge. This has been some what of a challenge because you have to figure what spot is the best for the subjects to be so its not to bright or in their eyes and so you don’t get the glare from the sun in the photo. I also made a poster of all of the photos and I did it three different ways and I like all three but I think the best one is the last one of them. I want to work more with natural lighting but we just need the sun so I can do so but the days we do I will be taking that time to take photos so there will be more to come with the natural lighting.

I used this photo twice because this one I burned around the edges and the other I didn’t and also the one below same I used to the burn tool on this one and not the other!

Focus 208

I Chose to do alberts landing and the cda river for my project this year. I chose this place because I know that it will end up changing and these photos are just some of my best photos that I took. I chose these photos because they show the old signs and how old most of the buildings are.

This is the pole of the lost shoes and clothes that are found on the river. The reason why I included this was because it gets added on ever year and this was the first time they have done this so I wanted to get it after the first year and see it years from now and she how many are on it. P.S. The flip flop that has the bright green on it is mine!!!!!=]

cheese cake=]

So this is my fist week doing food photography. I first started with the lighting set up which was the hair light over the top of the cheese cake then put the hot box on one side of it and put another light on the other side at one stop smaller then the hot box. The reason that I did this was so that I could have a shadow on the right side of the cake but I needed some light because with out that light it would be way to dark. I plan on having different lighting and messing with different types of food and some window light and maybe work some more with studio light. When looking at most lighting set ups I found that most photographers use window light with a piece of white bored behind that food so that the side of the food that is not towards the window still has a shadow but it isn’t to dark. I plan on trying this next week so that I can see the difference in the studio and natural light. The reason why I chose to do the food photography was because I knew that it would be a challenge for me to work with different lighting and just a different over all type of photos. I find it is much harder then it looks when photographing food because you have to have the correct shadows and make the food the best you can and as perfect as possible. I feel that doing food photography will help me in lighting and it positioning of my subjects. I got my inspiration for this project from
